The Kansas City Pinball Championship is a celebrated annual event that has been captivating the hearts of pinball enthusiasts since its inception in 2018. Founded by Keri Wing, a distinguished women's world pinball champion, this championship stands as a testament to the enduring passion for pinball within the community. Over the years, it has evolved into a remarkable gathering, drawing aficionados from far and wide.
What sets this tournament apart is not only its rich history but also its unwavering mission to foster camaraderie and competition in the pinball community. The championship is more than just a single tournament; it's a multi-day extravaganza consisting of a main tournament and several side tournaments. Operated entirely by dedicated volunteers and supported by the non-profit organization, "Kansas City Pinball," the event embodies the spirit of grassroots enthusiasm. Notably, the pinnacle of achievement in this championship is winning the main competition and having one's name inscribed on the illustrious Kevin Wing Memorial Trophy, an honor that resonates deeply with every pinball enthusiast.

** This tournament will be running at the same time as the 40 Ways from Sunday Tournament, but not on the same bank of machines. Any player from the main tournament can also play in that tournament if they choose. However, if it is that players turn, and they have not plunged their ball after a 2 minute wait, their ball will be plunged for them. Exceptions will be made for TDs that are attending to s stuck ball or other TD related responsibility.
** Players can join the 40 Ways from Sunday Tournament late - after it has started. They will start with zero points, regardless of when they join, and will only play the remaining rounds.
All players meet in the common area upstairs, where rules and first rounds will be announced.
Pinball machines used in the Main Event Final will have their own area, and will not be used in the 40 Ways from Sunday tournament, nor will they be open to the public.
Finals will use a Group Elimination Bracket.
During 4-player matches, the top 2 finishing players will move on, and the bottom 2 players will be eliminated. If there is a tie that determines which 2 players move on, a one game tie break will be played on a game chosen by a TD. The TD may defer the choice of game to the top seeded player in the tie break.
Each match will consist of 3 games.
The highest seed player in the group will choose a machine to be played but not their position in the player order. The next highest seed will choose their position in the player order, then the next seed will do the same, until all positions in the player order are determined. A player who is responsible for choosing a machine may instead choose their position in the player order, and defer the choice of machine to the next highest seed.
This process will repeat before each game in the round. The high seed is not required to choose all 3 games up front. If the player has made their wishes known up-front, they may change their mind later on.
For each game, one point is awarded for each opponent beat and one bonus point is added to the winner. Four-player scoring: 4/2/1/0. Three-player scoring: 4/2/1.
Printed Score Sheets:
The highest seed player in each group is responsible for retrieving the score sheet

for returning the score sheet to the TD desk.
